Here is the media coverage of my work in the film industry and some of the projects I have worked on. Below, you will find moments from public and private events related to my work, interviews, mentions by filmmakers in the industry, public speeches, and media coverage.

I was featured as a guest on the After Film School Podcast with Chris Schwartzy, where I shared insights into my professional journey. During the interview, I discussed my memorable encounter with George Clooney, my transformative experience at the American Film Institute (AFI), and my career as a film editor. I delved into the intricacies of post-production work and provided an in-depth look at the diverse range of shows and films I've edited throughout my career.

I attended a screening of On The Divide at the Cinelounge, a PBS documentary on which I served as assistant editor in 2022. This film is part of my collaborative journey with Oscar-winning film producer Diane Becker, whose documentary Navalny received critical acclaim.

​Since 2019, I have had the privilege of working closely with Becker on several impactful documentaries, including:

  • The Longest War (Showtime)

  • White Coat Rebels (Participant Media)

  • On The Divide (PBS)

  • Detainee 001 (Showtime)

Most recently, I completed my role as Lead Assistant Editor on the scripted series Ghosts of Beirut now streaming on Showtime/Paramount+.

Here I am featured on the Wheaton Alumni blog story where I discuss my journey in the film industry after graduating Wheaton College in 2014. 

In this interview on the Toan Dang Podcast, I offer an intimate look into my journey through the film and television industry. I candidly discuss my professional trajectory in Los Angeles, highlighting the pivotal role of my mentors, colleagues, and connections from the American Film Institute (AFI) who have been instrumental in shaping and supporting my career. The conversation provides insights into the challenges and opportunities of establishing oneself in the competitive entertainment landscape of Hollywood.

Pictured is the premiere of Of Night and Light, a documentary feature directed by Lucy Walker—an Emmy Award winner and two-time Oscar nominee—which debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival 2023. During the Spring of 2023, I worked remotely as an assistant editor on this documentary, navigating the challenging landscape of the industry strikes. The accompanying red carpet photos capture the excitement of the film's festival screening, showcasing the collaborative effort of the cast and crew I was privileged to work alongside.

My alma mater, the American Film Institute (AFI) Conservatory, recognized my professional achievement on their Alumni Connections page for my work on Ghosts of Beirut. This milestone marks my debut as Lead Assistant Editor on a scripted television series for Showtime/Paramount+. Directed by Greg Barker and produced by Oscar-winning producer Diane Becker, the series was expertly edited by Padraic McKinley and Matthew Wooley, representing a significant breakthrough in my career trajectory.

Split at the Root, a documentary feature where I served as Post-Production Supervisor, made its premiere at the Array Creative Campus in Los Angeles. The film garnered significant media attention, including a spotlight on Spectrum News, reported by journalist Taylor Torregano.

The documentary, which I worked on remotely throughout 2022, features an exceptional team including executive producer Rosario Dawson and director Linda Goldstein Knowlton. Split at the Root has since achieved widespread recognition, securing screenings at prestigious film festivals such as:

  • SXSW 2022

  • Heartland International Film Festival

  • Palm Springs International Film Festival

  • Hot Docs Film Festival

Now available on Netflix, the documentary has completed numerous theatrical screenings across the United States, marking a significant milestone in its distribution and impact.

During the Indie Night 2021 screening at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre, I was featured in press interviews for Flint Tale, an independent feature film where I served as both editor and post-production supervisor. The project was a collaborative effort with Director/Producer/Writer Marc Cayce, Producer/Actress Tecoya Harris, and Executive Producer Cheryl Rich, representing a significant milestone in independent filmmaking.

During my Master of Fine Arts journey in Film Editing at the American Film Institute (AFI) Conservatory, I cultivated a rich portfolio of short film projects and developed meaningful professional relationships. A defining moment came during my 2018 Commencement, when Matt Chessé, A.C.E.—an Oscar-nominated film editor and my mentor in the film editing program—publicly acknowledged my contributions.​

Chessé fondly recalled my engagement, noting: "My pal Hammad Hassan [is] always the first one with his hand in the air..."

This recognition highlighted not just my academic achievements, but my proactive approach to learning and collaboration within the prestigious AFI film editing program.

Daytime Emmy 2020 Tina Benko Acceptance Speech:
My editorial work on The Rehearsal mini-web series contributed to Tina Benko's Emmy Award-winning performance, a moment made even more meaningful when she acknowledged my scene editing during her acceptance speech.

I attended the screening of Junior, a short film I edited, at the Pan-African Film Festival 2020. The film was honored with a nomination for Best Short Film Narrative and was screened at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza 15 and XD, just weeks before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

An exceptional collaboration brought this project to life, with NBA Champion and Finals MVP Chauncey Billups serving as executive producer, and the film directed by American Film Institute (AFI) alumnus Dubois Ashong. The screening represented a significant moment in our collective creative journey, showcasing the power of collaborative storytelling.
