HAMMAD HASSAN FILMS

Film & Documentary Editor, Assistant Editor (AE) & Post-Production Supervisor
[IATSE, Local #700 (Assistant Editor)]

As a post-production professional in the Hollywood film industry, I've built a diverse portfolio working across major streaming platforms and networks. My expertise spans roles as an Assistant Film Editor and Post-Production Supervisor, handling everything from scripted TV shows to feature documentaries and narrative films for industry leaders like Netflix, Paramount, CBS, NBC, Peacock, FX, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Showtime.

Most recently, I served as First Assistant Editor on Amazon Prime's trending documentary series "The Money Game" and supervised post-production for the iHeart Podcast Awards 2024 broadcast from SXSW. Before that, I was Lead Assistant Editor for Showtime's "Ghosts of Beirut" and Post-Production Supervisor for the Netflix/Array documentary "Split At The Root," produced by Rosario Dawson and distributed by Ava DuVernay.

I specialize in managing complex post-production workflows and have extensive experience with industry-standard software including Avid Media Composer (where I'm certified), DaVinci Resolve, and Adobe Premiere Pro. I've developed a particular expertise in coordinating between editorial, color, sound, and VFX departments to ensure seamless delivery of high-quality content that meets the exacting standards of major platforms. Go to my Showreel to check out the projects I've been involved in and go to my Resume and Press to see the depth of my role on each project. Please contact me if you’d like to collaborate on a project.

ABOUT HAMMAD HASSAN
Professional Details
I earned my MFA in Film Editing from the AFI (American Film Institute) Conservatory which has been ranked as the number 1 film school in the U.S. by Hollywood Reporter. I also earned my BA at Wheaton College in Film & New Media Studies. My 2 AFI thesis short films (Junior, Watermark) were both selected in many film festivals in the U.S, (Pan-African FilmFest, The Golden State Film Festival, The Pasadena International Film Festival & Vegas Cinefest) receiving many awards and nominations from the film festivals in 2019-2020. During my time at AFI I was mentored by some of the top working film editors in the industry, Matt Chessé (Oscar Nominee-Finding Neverland), Martin Nicholson (Primetime Emmy Nominee-Deadwood) and Christopher Gay (Primetime Emmy Nominee-Mad Men). I was also mentored by some of the top working film assistant editors, James Stiegelbauer (Amend: The Fight for America) and Jonny Converse (Deadwood: The Movie).
After graduating AFI in 2018 I went on to work as a freelance assistant film editor and film editor that spans across narrative feature films, documentary films and TV content. I have very recently taken on the challenge of post-supervisor across some of the projects I have worked on. I enjoy the post-production process and I see myself continuing to pursue opportunities within post-production. I enjoy technical challenges, problem-solving and story-building. I have worked within many different workflows throughout my time in the industry including many challenges throughout the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns. I am seasoned in working remote, hybrid-remote and within a stacked office environment.
As a film editor I have a great understanding of aesthetics, technical detail, pacing, story structure and sound design. I bring a team-friendly attitude on every project I work on and thrive in collaborative environments and believe this is necessary for reaching the project's ultimate goals.
